OMAPREM has many important differences from typical fish oil or other Omega-3’s.
The omega-3 nutrients in OMAPREM are beneficial to everyone. They protect cardiac health and lower blood triglycerides, and it helps in almost every organ system in the body. Omega -3’s are a fundamental cornerstone of our health and when we give our body back this important building block then positive health benefits are felt and seen. Every cell in the body requires Omega-3 fatty acids to form normally functioning cell membranes – the envelope surrounding every cell. In addition to this structural role in the cell membranes, the Omega-3 fatty acids are converted into a class of compounds called eicosanoids (e.g. prostaglandins). The eicosanoids have numerous functions in essential organs in the human body, including the heart, joints, blood vessels, and the brain. Consuming even moderate amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids reduces the rate of first heart attack by about 30%. In patients that have had a heart attack, Omega-3 fatty acids appear to reduce the frequency of fatal arrhythmias (these electrical disturbances in the heart are the most common cause of sudden death during and after a heart attack). Omega-3 fatty acids also promote joint mobility in arthritic conditions. In the blood vessels, Omega-3 fatty acids prevent the deposition of atherosclerotic plaques, which can lead to “hardening of the arteries” and heart disease. There are no drug-like side effects to OMAPREM. Rarely a person may have some GI distress taking a fish oil but taking it with food or dividing the dose helps this. It is very rare with OmaPrem due to the patented extraction process and the protection from oxidation.
OMAPREM contains a unique grouping of rare Omega-3 fatty acids, including DHA and EPA, derived from the non-polar lipids of New Zealand’s green lipped mussel (perna canaliculus). This combination of Omega-3 fatty acids is unique to this species and is not found in any other variety of seafood.
The green lipped mussels which contain the raw material for OMAPREM are grown at the north tip of New Zealand’s south island in the beautiful Marlborough Sounds Region. The Marlborough Sounds represents a perfect growing environment for mussels, with pristine waters and nourishing Pacific Ocean currents combining with an ideal climate. New Zealand’s waterways are recognized as some of the cleanest in the world, free of toxins and other contaminants.
All mussel farming and processing in the Marlborough Sounds is strictly controlled by New Zealand’s Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries (“MAF”) to ensure that the mussels conform to the highest quality standards. The Marlborough Sounds are regularly monitored to ensure that mussels are grown in clean, unpolluted waters.
The mussels from which OMAPREM is extracted take around a year to grow to the desired length of 80mm. The mussels are suspended from long-lines supported by buoys and never touch the ocean floor. The mussels are sorted aboard a harvesting barge to ensure only the highest quality mussels are processed to extract OMAPREM. The sorting process utilizes a patented process that enables testing and screening of mussels prior to harvesting to identify those mussels which are rich in free fatty acids, providing OMAPREM with the finest quality green lipped mussels for processing.
After the mussels are harvested, they are rushed to the factory and processed immediately to ensure that the beneficial properties are fully protected. The mussels are stabilized and then freeze dried according to a patented process which is essential for the subsequent extraction of the lipids in the mussel. The processing plant conforms to the highest quality control standards, which are strictly regulated by the MAF on behalf of the United States FDA and EU authorities. After the stabilized mussels have been freeze dried into powder, they are shipped to a factory for processing into OMAPREM. The mussel powder is then processed into the oil in OMAPREM using the patented supercritical fluid extraction process.
For generations the native coastal Maori population of New Zealand have consumed raw New Zealand green lipped mussels as a primary part of their diet.
For hundreds of years, the Maoris would harvest the mussels growing naturally on the seashores and would eat them raw. Even though they saw the mussel as an important part of their diet, they did not realize the benefits they were gaining.

New Zealand folklore maintained that coastal dwelling Maoris who regularly consumed the mussel as part of their diet suffered far less from the ravages of arthritis than their inland dwelling relatives. Following this, considerable research began in order to verify that the mussel had anti-inflammatory activity.
Early study results were erratic and no consistent results could be determined. Naturally the skeptics were quick to slander the anti-inflammatory potential of the mussels. What the early researchers failed to realize was that the coastal Maoris ate the mussels fresh from the ocean and any other processing procedure like extreme heat, freeze drying and refrigeration without a stabilization or anti-oxygenation process would promote oxidation of the active components, therefore dramatically lessening the mussel's potency.
This soon became the focal point for a research project to develop a method to stabilize the mussel meat and as a result, a patented process was developed. However, this procedure relies heavily on the freshness of the mussel meat. Therefore harvesting must be closely coordinated directly with the processing plant.

For anticoagulant (blood thinning) medications, such as Coumadin (warfarin) or high-dose aspirin or nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, like aspirin, ibuprofen, and others check with your health care provider prior to using OmaPrem. OmaPrem and Omega-3 fatty acids in general can mix with any psychiatric medication very safely.
Yes, eating more fish would be a healthy choice for most Americans, however, data from the FDA’s website suggests that freshwater fish in the United States is essentially inedible, due to industrial pollution leading to residues of heavy metals (e.g. mercury) and organchlorine carcinogens (e.g. PCBs). Ocean fish are more variable, with some species likely to be very clean, while others may be highly contaminated. It is difficult to make general guidelines regarding how much fish is safe. The alternative way to receive Omega-3 fatty acids is through supplements. OMAPREM is derived from the Green Lipped Mussel from the pristine waters of New Zealand. These mussels appear to be uncontaminated. As one moves up the food chain, more and more toxins can accumulate depending on the diet of the fish. Mussels are near the bottom of the food chain and feed on the plankton that contain the Omega-3 essential fatty acids. A reasonable recommendation would be to eat moderate amounts of fish combined with OMAPREM supplements to ensure an adequate intake of Omega-3 oils.
Easy, squeeze out the oil into a teaspoon of applesauce or yogurt or juice. OMAPREM is manufactured as a gel cap, however, for customers who have difficulty swallowing pills/gel caps, we recommended piercing the gel cap with a sterilized pin and squeezing the oil into a liquid (juice, etc.) or pudding immediately prior to ingestion. This will not compromise the effectiveness of OMAPREM.

Yes. The Omega-3 fatty acids are absolutely necessary during pregnancy and lactation. Babies have an absolute need for the Omega-3 fatty acids for their brain and visual system development. Babies obtain their Omega-3 fatty acids from the mother through the placenta during pregnancy and from the breast milk in the post-partum period. In fact, the new mother who has a low consumption of fish or other Omega-3 sources will become profoundly depleted after giving birth to twins or triplets are even more susceptible to Omega-3 depletion. It is safe to say that all pregnant women should be receiving Omega-3 fatty acids.
Too much fish can expose the mother and baby to toxins found all too often in fish, such as heavy metals (e.g. mercury) or organochlorine (e.g. PCBs). Therefore it may be safer to use an Omega-3 supplement such as OMAPREM.
Falxseed oil is a rich source of the Omega-3 fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). ALA is an Omega-3 fatty acid with a shorter carbon chain than EPA and DHA. This structural difference confers different biochemical properties to ALA. Some ALA gets converted in the body to EPA and DHA, but this conversion may not be adequate to meet the body’s need for EPA and DHA. Flaxseed oil is more palatable than typical commercially available fish oil, but has a stronger taste and odor than marine oils such as OmaPrem.
Yes, OMAPREM is good for the heart. Clinical evidence suggests that EPA and DHA (eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid, two of the omega-3 fatty acids found in Omega XL) help reduce risk factors for heart disease, including high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Omega-3 fatty acids possess anti-inflammatory, antiarrhythmic, and anti-thrombotic properties. Omega-3 supplements have been shown to lower levels of triglycerides (fats in the blood), and to lower risk of death, heart attack, stroke, and abnormal heart rhythms in people who have already had a heart attack. Regular intake of Omega XL has been shown to inhibit the eruptions of plaque that lead to heart attacks.
OMAPREM is recommended to be kept at room temperature or below and out of direct sunlight, with as little humidity as possible.
After the expiration date OMAPREM will slowly oxidize and the omega 3’s will break down. It is tested and certified to be at optimum qualify for two years if kept at the recommended temperature and humidity levels.
